Welcome to another update from us here at the Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club.
Well it was back to FA Women’s Super League action last weekend and our excellent victory over Birmingham City coupled with Arsenal losing at Chelsea sees City sit proudly on top of the league on maximum points.
We know that there is a long way to go yet of course but this season is shaping up to be a classic. I must mention that there were more great crowds again at the weekend so the game is doing very well at the moment.
Supporters’ Club-wise, we gave been very busy. Our free coach to Leigh for the FA Women’s Continental League Cup derby against Manchester United next Sunday is full and we have now also upgraded to a bigger coach to take our members to Arsenal on 27 October for what is looking like a crucial clash against the champions.
On a separate note, our chairwoman Blandie has been on her travels this week. She is in Gran Canaria and was able to attend the City Trophy Tour where the club presented all the trophies which we won last season to the local fans. There was a very special guest in attendance, David Silva, and of course Blandie could not resist a photo opportunity and a chat with our club legend.
This week sees us return to UEFA Women’s Champions League action with a home tie against Atletico Madrid. Everyone at the OSC are especially looking forward to welcoming Toni Duggan back to The Academy Stadium. She has played a massive part in the development of our club and it will be nice to recognise that fact.
Hope you all enjoy the upcoming European and FA Women’s Continental League Cup action and we will be back again next week.
