Manchester City will spend the coming days searching for a new manager with current boss Nick Cushing having announced that he will be leaving the club early next month.
The 35-year-old has opted to move to the United States to take up the position of assistant manager at Major League Soccer (MLS) club New York City.
Cushing has taken charge of City on 187 occasions during his six year spell in charge and has won a hugely impressive 75.4% of those matches. He guided City to the FA Women’s Super League 1 title in 2016 while he has lifted the FA Women’s Continental League Cup on three occasions and the Women’s FA Cup twice.
After hearing news of their manager’s scheduled departure, City fans took to Twitter to comment on the unexpected announcement.

Cushing will take charge of Manchester City on a further five occasions before leaving for the United States. After watching his side take on Everton on Saturday, Cushing will take City to Sheffield United for their FA Women’s Continental League Cup tie. The club will then face a league fixture at Birmingham City before travelling to bitter rivals Manchester United in the Women’s FA Cup.
Arsenal will be Cushing’s final opponents in the FA Women’s Super League on 2 February with the City legend surely set for an emotional Academy Stadium farewell.
