‘London is Blue’ in FA Women’s Super League terms tonight following Chelsea’s superb 4-1 victory over Arsenal at Meadow Park.
Goals from Beth England, Sam Kerr and Sophie Ingle put The Blues 3-0 up inside 20 minutes against the reigning champions before Guro Reiten added to their tally in the second half.
Defeat would have left Emma Hayes’ side seven points adrift with a game in hand, a challenge which may have been a step too far if they are to win back the league title but this afternoon’s victory has now given Chelsea an advantage over both Arsenal and Manchester City with 10 games left to play.
After the match, a number of the Chelsea players took to Twitter to reflect on an truly wonderful team performance at Boreham Wood. Here is what they have had to say on the result.

Chelsea face some season-defining fixtures in the coming weeks. They face West Ham United and Birmingham City in their next two home matches in the FA Women’s Super League but it is their performances on the road which could really make the difference in the title race. Emma Hayes takes her side to Manchester United on 9 February while they face Manchester City at The Academy Stadium on Sunday 23 February.
The Blues’ victory over Arsenal this afternoon was their fourth on the bounce and sees Emma Hayes’ side complete a league double over The Gunners this season.
