Rumoured Manchester City summer transfer target Dzsenifer Marozsan has signed a new deal with Lyon which will keep her with the European champions until summer 2023.

The German international was thought to be set to leave the Groupama Stadium this summer but Marozsan has instead opted to remain with Lyon for the long term.

The French club announced news of Marozsan’s new deal via a report on their official website earlier today.

Marozsan’s extended stay in southern France could be a blow to Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Manchester City. It was previously thought that City had tabled an offer for the German midfielder in a bid to bolster their squad ahead of a renewed title push next season. The player was also heavily linked with a move to National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Utah Royals.

Since joining Lyon from German club 1. FFC Frankfurt in 2016, Marozsan has netted a goal in almost every other league game. She has also starred for Les Lyonnaises in the UEFA Women’s Champions League winning the trophy in each of her three completed seasons with the French club. She has won the German Women’s Player of the Year award in three consecutive years between 2017 and 2019.

Marozsan’s new deal with Lyon is undoubtedly very positive news for the Division 1 Feminine champions.
