Manchester City striker Tessa Wullaert will officially leave The Academy Stadium when her contract expires next week according to reports on the club’s official website.
The 27-year-old Belgian international forward had long been expected to leave the 2019/2020 Barclays FA Women’s Super League runners-up with Wullaert having been tipped to be playing her football elsewhere next season.
The player’s anticipated departure was finally confirmed by Manchester City this morning, with Wullaert hinting on her Twitter account that an announcement on her next career move may not be all that far away.
I decided to not extend my contract @ManCity,but thank you to everyone involved during the past 2 seasons. They have been good 🏆🏆with lots of memories. However offcourse my journey continues and I’m even more excited for what’s ahead (so stay tuned😉)! Until we meet again. TW pic.twitter.com/sPcpsLXV5f

Wullaert joined Manchester City from German club VfL Wolfsburg in summer 2018 and the striker has gone on to net six times for the club in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. The player was a member of the Manchester City side which won a domestic cup double under former boss Nick Cushing in 2018/2019.
It is not currently known where Wullaert will be playing next season, however, reports in her homeland have previously indicated that the player’s former club RSC Anderlecht were keen to re-acquire her services. The forward spent the 2012/2013 campaign with the Belgian club before her spells with Standard Liege, VfL Wolfsburg and Manchester City.
New Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor will undoubtedly be looking for attacking reinforcements this summer with the club having now lost both Wullaert and Pauline Bremer.
