Teenage midfielder Alice Griffiths has signed a contract extension with Charlton Athletic ahead of the new FA Women’s Championship season according to reports on The Addicks’ official club website.

The 19-year-old midfielder appeared in 10 of Charlton Athletic’s 12 fixtures in the FA Women’s Championship last season as she played an important role for Riteesh Mishra’s side.

Only Lilli Maple and Jenna Pegg made more appearances from midfield than Griffiths for The Addicks in the FA Women’s Championship last season while only five players in the whole squad were given more league outings. Given Griffiths’ importance to the Charlton Athletic squad, it is really good news that the player has opted to remain at The Oakwood for the coming season.

Despite a slow start to summer recruitment, Charlton Athletic boss Mishra’s squad building is now in full swing. Griffiths is the third player to commit to The Addicks for the upcoming campaign. She joins Grace Coombs and fellow midfielder Maple in signing new deals with the club.

Charlton Athletic found the 2019/2020 campaign exceptionally tough after failing to win any of their 12 matches in the FA Women’s Championship. Mishra’s side finished bottom of the table on a points per game basis but were saved from relegation after the FA Women’s National League season was declared void. The Addicks will be looking to improve this year.
