Former Arsenal defender Louise Quinn has joined Italian club ACF Fiorentina on a free transfer according to reports on The Purples’ official website.
The 30-year-old Republic of Ireland international defender was a free agent after leaving former club Arsenal at the end of her contract at Meadow Park.
It has today been reported that Quinn has completed her surprise move to Fiorentina. The player will initially spend one season at the Stadio Gino Bozzi. Quinn is no stranger to the city of Florence with the player having been a 74th-minute substitute for Arsenal as they won 4-0 at Fiorentina in the 2019/2020 UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Quinn joined Arsenal in 2017 following a spell with Notts County. The player went on to make well over a half-century of appearances for The Gunners while she lifted the FA Women’s Super League title and the FA Women’s Continental League Cup with the North Londoners.
In her last season at Meadow Park, Quinn made just six appearances for Arsenal in the league, a sign that her time with Joe Montemurro’s side was coming to an end.
Quinn’s move to Italy sees the defender play outside of the UK and Ireland for just the second time in her career. She previously spent time with Swedish Side Eskilstuna United between 2013 and 2016 and will now test herself across Europe once again.
