Former Manchester City midfielder Emma Bissell has joined Bristol City according to reports on The Robins’ official website.

The 18-year-old is an attack-minded midfielder and she is likely to help fill the void left by fellow summer signing Megan Wynne’s potential season-long absence due to injury.

Having come through Manchester City’s Regional Talent Centre (RTC), Bissell went on to make a couple of substitute appearances for The Citizens in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup. The youngster was also named amongst the City substitutes in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on three occasions last season as the club recorded a second-place finish.

Bissell joins a club which has an excellent record of giving first team opportunities to young players. Bristol City have nurtured plenty of their own youth products in recent years along with youngsters who have struggled for senior playing opportunities elsewhere.

Upon signing for Bristol City, Bissell told The Robins’ official club media sources “I’m really excited to kickstart a new challenge in my career at Bristol City Women.

“Having spoken to Tanya, she was clear the direction she wants to take the club and I want to be a part of that journey and push myself against the best teams and players in the world.

“I feel I can contribute to the group in making the difference on the pitch and I’m looking forward to the start of the season.”

The England Under-19 international becomes Bristol City manager Tanya Oxtoby’s sixth signing of the summer so far.
