Blackburn Rovers last night confirmed via their official club website that defender Kelsey Pearson and midfielder Levi Chambers-Cook will not be members of their 2020/2021 squad.
Both players played their parts in Rovers transitioning from the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division into the FA Women’s Championship last season.
Rovers confirmed last night that both players have left the club over the course of the summer. The announcement was made shortly before Rovers announced their 2020/2021 squad numbers.
Defender Pearson made two starts for Rovers in the FA Women’s Championship while she made two further appearances from the bench. She was also given a couple of run-outs in the domestic cups by manager Gemma Donnelly. The player has suffered horrific luck with injury during the last two seasons.
Midfielder Chambers-Cook also appeared for Rovers on four occasions in the league, all of which were starts. Like Pearson, she additionally represented the club in a couple of FA Women’s Continental League Cup fixtures.
Rovers boss Donnelly has brought no less than nine new faces to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium this summer meaning that both Pearson and Chambers-Cook could not have been guaranteed regular first team football in the club’s second year in the FA Women’s Championship.
Donnelly’s side kick-off the 2020/2021 campaign at Leicester City this afternoon.
