London City Lionesses goalkeeper Shae Yanez has admitted that she is settling well into life at her new club.
The 23-year-old is playing her football the best part of 4,000 miles away from home this season with The Pride but is enjoying life across the Atlantic.
When speaking to FA Women’s Super League Full-Time in a recent London City Lionesses press conference, Yanez said that while there are differences in playing her football in England, there are also similarities to the game back home in the United States.
“It is very technical and it is a different game to the States but I do think it is comparable” said the Lionesses goalkeeper. “People compete and while it is a lot more technical, I don’t think that it has been a huge adjustment.
“I have just been learning the style of play and how we play and I have been adjusting to that.
“It has been two or three months now but everyone has been so welcoming, I really like our style of play and we are going to build on that and grow.”
Yanez is still awaiting her first win in a London City Lionesses shirt. The Pride travel to Durham for their next FA Women’s Championship fixture on Sunday and the American keeper believes that the camp has a good vibe ahead of that match.
She added “There are a lot of positives to come and there has been a lot of energy in training.
“People are ready and motivated and we are just ready to compete and hopefully get that first win.”
Yanez is expected to again be fielded by head coach Lisa Fallon in the London City Lionesses goal at Maiden Castle on Sunday as The Pride look to build on their excellent record away from home in the FA Women’s Championship.
