Aston Villa and Everton’s game management will be tested as the pair contest their latest Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture at The Banks’s Stadium in Walsall this lunchtime.
Two sides known for playing free-flowing football will go head-to-head on what will be a heavy pitch in The Midlands and the winner of the contest may prove to be the side who handles the soggy conditions the better.
Aston Villa go into the match having been defeated in each of their opening two matches in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. Manager Gemma Davies may look to implement some changes to the side which lost 3-1 at Reading three weeks ago. Defensive reinforcements may top Davies’ list of improvements with the likes of Asmita Ale and Anita Asante possibly considered for starts.
Willie Kirk brings his Everton side back down the M6 off the back of an impressive 3-0 victory over Villa’s city rivals Birmingham City in a Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-final tie in midweek. Like his opposite number Davies, Kirk could opt to make changes to his side with a busy schedule ahead. Molly Pike and Valerie Gauvin were particularly impressive after coming off the bench at the SportNation.bet Stadium in midweek while the likes of Abbey-Leigh Stringer and Hayley Raso could come into contention. The Blue Girls boss Kirk has confirmed that midfielder Claire Emslie will return to his starting line-up.
Aston Villa’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League clash against Everton is set to kick-off at 12.30pm and will be screened live on the FA Player.
