Everton fans have received further good news this morning with centre-back Gabby George having posted an image of herself on the training pitch at the club’s USM Finch Farm training base.
The Blue Girls are flying in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and have a Vitality Women’s FA Cup final on the horizon. They could also have the added bonus of welcoming highly-rated defender George back into the fold in the not-so-distant future with the player seemingly stepping up her fitness following her rehabilitation from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.
George sustained her devastating injury blow in the first minute of Everton’s 5-0 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate in a Vitality Women’s FA Cup tie back in February. The player was expected to be sidelined for at least nine months but her comeback trail looks to be on track with George seemingly having just returned to training.
The defender posted an image of herself on the training pitch on her personal Twitter account earlier this morning, a hint that she may just be a few weeks away from making a first team return.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Everton have played just six matches since George sustained her injury. Willie Kirk’s side have won five of those games and lost just one. This month’s action is likely to come too early for the defender while she may also not be ready for the Vitality Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley on 1 November with George likely to need time to complete her recovery and build up her ball work.
