Former Manchester City forward nets first goal for She-Wolves at the third attempt

Former Manchester City forward Pauline Bremer has found filling Pernille Harder’s shoes a difficult task at VfL Wolfsburg so far but the player got off the mark for her new club at the weekend, netting in their 4-0 victory at Bayer Leverkusen in the FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga.

The 24-year-old German international striker returned to her homeland this summer after opting to leave Manchester City.

Bremer is yet to complete 90 minutes for her new club, being substituted in each of her three starts and being unused in VfL Wolfsburg’s other league fixture. The forward netted 0.83 goals per game for former club Manchester City in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League last season and while Bremer hasn’t hit the ground running back in Germany, she opened her goalscoring account as the She-Wolves continued their perfect start with victory at Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.

The striker netted the second goal for Stephan Lerch’s side in the 15th minute of the match. She was again withdrawn before the end of the game after being replaced by Karina Saevik 21 minutes before time.

Bremer joined former club Manchester City in 2017 but soon suffered a broken leg which ruled her out for more than a year. She returned to action in December 2018 and while she struggled for both starts and goals in the second half of the 2018/2019 campaign, Bremer made a real impact at The Academy Stadium last season. The player netted an astonishing 22 goals in 21 appearances for City in all competitions, ending her stay in England with a real bang.

VfL Wolfsburg signed Bremer on a free transfer with the player agreeing a three-year deal at the AOK Stadion.
