Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to record their first Barclays FA Women’s Super League victory of the season on Saturday when Manchester United are the visitors to The Hive.
Karen Hills and Juan Amoros’ side have collected one point from their opening three matches this season but they did return to winning ways against London City Lionesses in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup in midweek.
Spurs are still searching for their first positive result against United. The North Londoners lost both of their meetings with The Red Devils in the FA Women’s Championship in 2018/2019 while Casey Stoney’s side again completed a league double over Spurs last season.
After dropping to the bench in midweek, Anna Filbey is pushing for a start while the likes of Rosella Ayane and Angela Addison will be hoping to feature against United after netting in the 4-0 victory over London City Lionesses. The footballing world will again be watching to see whether United States international Alex Morgan makes her Spurs debut.
United are expected to travel to the capital without a number of key players. Jess Sigsworth, Ona Batlle, Lauren James, Ivana Fuso, Lotta Okvist and Martha Harris were all missing for their side’s 3-1 FA Women’s Continental League Cup loss at midweek and there could again be a similar number of absentees this weekend.
Manager Stoney will reinstall goalkeeper Mary Earps into her starting line-up at The Hive while the likes of Lucy Staniforth, Leah Galton, Katie Zelem, Kirsty Hanson and Christen Press could all be considered for starts.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm and will be screened live both on BT Sport 3 and the FA Player.
