Tottenham Hotspur joint-head coaches Karen Hills and Juan Amoros have added goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse to their squad ahead of their meeting with Manchester United on Saturday according to reports on Spurs’ official website.
The 23-year-old Enfield-born stopper has previously been playing her football in the United States but returned to England earlier this year.
Spurs announced the signing of Whitehouse this evening with the player eligible to feature in joint-head coaches Hills and Amoros’ matchday squad for the clash with Manchester United this weekend.
Whitehouse has been handed the number 24 shirt by Spurs and the player will help fill the void left by injured goalkeeper Aurora Mikalsen. The Norwegian international keeper sustained an ankle injury last month and has been recovering back in her homeland following surgery. The player is unlikely to be fit to feature for Spurs again until the New Year.
New signing Whitehouse has spent her entire career playing in the United States after moving to the nation at a young age. The player has represented both Columbia and Santa Clara University sides, making regular first team appearances. She was a captain of the Columbia University team.
Spurs are searching for their first Barclays FA Women’s Super League victory of the season against Manchester United after picking up just one point from their three matches so far.
