FAWSL fixtures to be staggered on Women’s Football Weekend

Women’s Football Weekend returns for it’s second edition next month with The Football Association announcing that all six Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches will be staggered, allowing fans to watch every top flight fixture.

The Football Association have notified FA Women’s Super League Full-Time via an official press release that all six games will be spread across the weekend with four matches being staged on Saturday 14 November and a further two fixtures scheduled for the following day.

Women’s Football Weekend will kick-off with the Manchester derby at The Leigh Sports Village at 12.30pm on Saturday 14 November. Aston Villa will then face city rivals Birmingham City at 2.30pm while Everton’s meeting with Reading will kick-off two hours later. The opening day of action will end with Bristol City v Tottenham Hotspur which will kick-off at 6.30pm.

Sunday 15 November will see West Ham United face Brighton & Hove Albion at 12.30pm before Arsenal take on Chelsea at 2.30pm.

The games at Manchester United and Arsenal will be screened live on BT Sport 1 while Everton’s match against Reading will be the BBC Red Button’s offering. All other games will be available on the FA Player.

In the FA Women’s Championship, Liverpool’s trip to Blackburn Rovers will be broadcast live on the FA Player while Charlton Athletic’s home fixture against London City Lionesses and Coventry United’s clash will Leicester City will be streamed live by the home clubs.

Last season saw the inaugural Women’s Football Weekend take place with over 75,000 fans attending matches across the top two divisions of the women’s game. The Barclays FA Women’s Super League’s attendance record was smashed as 38,262 fans attended the North London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This season’s Women’s Football Weekend will take place behind-closed-doors but it is hoped that fans will watch matches at home in their thousands.

Further announcements on Women’s Football Weekend arrangements are expected to be made in the lead up to the event.
