PREVIEW: Everton v Manchester City

Everton and Manchester City meet at Wembley on Sunday as they contest the long-awaited 2019/2020 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final.

Willie Kirk’s Everton side are looking to take the silverware back home to Merseyside for the first time since 2010 while Manchester City are the current holders of the trophy after eventually defeating West Ham United 3-0 in the 2018/2019 final.

Everton manager Willie Kirk is thought to have no new injury concerns to contend with ahead of the match with all of the club’s international stars having returned from the recent UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 qualifiers injury free. Winger Claire Emslie is ineligible for the match due to her not being registered in the Everton squad.

Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor will again be without long-term absentees Aoife Mannion, Megan Campbell and Lauren Hemp. Other than the injured trio, there are no other fitness concerns in the camp following the hectic international schedule.

The two clubs last met in the group stage of the FA Women’s Continental League Cup earlier this month. On that occasion, Manchester City ran out 3-1 winners at The Academy Stadium.

The 2019/2020 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final is scheduled to kick-off at 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon and will be broadcast live on BBC One, BT Sport 1 and on the FA Player.
