Bristol City are on the verge of reaching the quarter-finals of this season’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup after defeating second tier side Crystal Palace 4-2 at Hayes Lane this evening.

Chloe Logarzo netted a brace while Emma Bissell and Charlie Wellings were also on target for The Robins as Tanya Oxtoby’s side made it two wins out of two in this season’s competition.

Bristol City took the lead after 18 minutes when Bissell volleyed home after some good work from Ebony Salmon before a Logarzo penalty kick made it 2-0 with just half an hour on the clock.

The Australian international midfielder netted her second goal and Bristol City’s third just before half-time when she was given  time and space to pick her spot and fire the ball home.

Bristol City were in dreamland shortly after the break as they established a four-goal lead. Substitute Charlie Wellings added her name to the list of goalscorers after calmly profiting from the chance which came her way.

What will have disappointed Bristol City boss Tanya Oxtoby will have been her side’s lapse in concentration just after the fourth goal. Home forward Bianca Baptiste pulled two goals back for her side with efforts which were just three minutes apart.

Those two Palace warning shots did not materialise into any further damage for Bristol City as The Robins maintained their 4-2 lead to collect another three points in their FA Women’s Continental League Cup group.

Oxtoby’s side will complete their group fixtures at Lewes on Wednesday 18 November.
