Manchester City will be hoping to take their impressive domestic cup form into the Barclays FA Women’s Super League when Bristol City provide the opposition at The Academy Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Gareth Taylor’s side lifted the 2019/2020 Vitality Women’s FA Cup last weekend courtesy of a 3-1 extra-time victory over Everton while they were 3-0 winners at Liverpool in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup in midweek.
Manchester City head coach Taylor has no new injury concerns ahead of the match. Long-term absentees Aoife Mannion, Megan Campbell and Lauren Hemp remain sidelined.
With a busy month ahead, Taylor could use the match against Bristol City to again rotate his squad. This could mean offering more game time to young players like Esme Morgan and Jess Park while midfielder Laura Coombs will be hoping to retain her place after impressing against Liverpool last time out.
Bristol City travel to the North West after collecting maximum points against Crystal Palace in their FA Women’s Continental League Cup group fixture on Thursday evening. Youngster Naomi Layzell put in a Player of the Match performance at Hayes Lane on what was her competitive debut and could retain her place, while forward Charlie Wellings is pushing for a start after coming off the bench to score against Palace. The Robins will be without midfielder Aimee Palmer who is recovering from a dislocated knee.
Manchester City’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Bristol City kicks-off at 3pm on Saturday afternoon and will be available to stream both on City+ and the FA Player.
