Welcome to the latest weekly update from us here at the Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club.
What an amazing week it has been. The disappointment of not being able to attend the 2019/2020 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final last weekend was obviously felt by all of us at the OSC, however the build up to this final seemed to be more intense than ever and we found ourselves in demand for lots of media interviews previewing the big Wembley showdown.
Our Committee plus member and Man City Women Fancast host Emma Meredith-Shone recorded a preview and good luck message for the club to include on the #WNRH matchday preview show while secretary Jayne Comer recorded her thoughts on the final to BBC Radio Manchester, City Fan TV and the FA Player preview show. We also conducted a group recording for the Man City Women Fancast which was great fun. Our treasurer Jude Morris-King was even invited to appear on BBC Radio Four’s Woman’s Hour show along with Everton player Danielle Turner. She discussed both the game in general under lockdown, the final and the OSC’s plans for watching it. We thank all the people who invited us onto their respective programmes to discuss City and the cup final.
We knew that with not being able to travel to Wembley, we would have to organise one of our popular OSC Watch-a-longs for all of our members to be able to watch the final ‘together’ via a Zoom link. We had lots of members joining in from all over the UK and even Canada and we held one of our famous half-time draws with great prizes up for grabs to all who joined in. We know it is not quite the same as celebrating in the Wembley stands but we have had a lot of positive feedback from our members that these kind of interactions really do help in these difficult times.
We are so proud of the team for lifting the trophy and the club for covering every aspect of the final for us back home.
With the country now in another lockdown, the OSC would like to wish everyone well and we hope that you all stay safe. We will continue to engage as much as ever over our social media channels and we are always here for a chat or for general support.
Take care and we will be back again next week with another update.
