There are not many clubs that can comfortably say that they have kept Arsenal forward Vivianne Miedema quiet over the course of the last couple of seasons but Chelsea are one side who have put a stop to the Dutch international’s goalscoring exploits.
The two clubs meet in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League at Meadow Park on Sunday with Miedema having a poor recent record against The Blues in-front of goal.
Chelsea have prevented the 24-year-old forward from scoring in each of their last five meetings with Arsenal. During that time, the South West Londoners have dominated the fixture beating The Gunners in all of their encounters in all competitions.
Emma Hayes’ side have actually won their last six against Arsenal in total with their first victory over The Gunners in that sequence at Meadow Park in January 2019 being the last time that forward Miedema found the target against Chelsea.
Miedema goes into Sunday’s fixture on the back of a quiet performance at Manchester United last weekend as Arsenal lost 1-0. It is unusual that the player has two uneventful games on the bounce and Chelsea will be cautious of the damage which the Dutch international could cause if given the opportunity to do so.
The striker is the top scorer in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this season with 10 goals but will Miedema add to her tally this weekend by ending her barren spell against The Blues?
