Everton have been dealt a real blow with forward Valerie Gauvin expected to be sidelined until the New Year according to reports on The Blue Girls’ official website.
The 24-year-old French international has been a revelation for Everton since joining the Merseyside club in the summer.
Gauvin has scored three goals in five Barclays FA Women’s Super League games for Everton while she also netted in each of the final three rounds of the 2019/2020 Vitality Women’s FA Cup as The Blue Girls ended as runners-up to Manchester City.
The player has arguably been one of the very best signings made by a Barclays FA Women’s Super League club over the summer but Everton will need to continue to perform without Gauvin for the remainder of the year as she looks to overcome a muscle injury.
Gauvin was the subject of a heavy challenge just before the half-time whistle in the 2019/2020 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley a couple of weeks ago. Her final looked to be over but she bravely battled on, scoring Everton’s equalising goal in the second half.
Everton boss brought Gauvin off at the 90-minute mark at Wembley and the player has been sidelined ever since with the forward seemingly suffering from the events of that match.
