Women’s Football Weekend ’20 kicks-off with a mouth-watering fixture as Manchester United host Manchester City in the first Barclays FA Women’s Super League Manchester derby of the season at the Leigh Sports Village.

City won last season’s league meeting 1-0 at The Etihad Stadium and also defeated United in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup but it was Casey Stoney’s Reds who came out on top in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.

United boss Stoney is keeping her potential team selection under wraps ahead of Saturday’s blockbuster. What we do know is that striker Alessia Russo will play no part in the derby with the player having undergone surgery this week. Subject to player availability, Stoney is likely to keep faith with the majority of the United side which defeated Arsenal 1-0 last weekend as the club jumped to the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table.

There is no major news on the injury front from the City camp ahead of this weekend. Long-term absentees Aoife Mannion and Megan Campbell remain sidelined and while youngster Lauren Hemp is stepping up her battle to regain fitness, Saturday’s fixture will come too soon for her. City head coach Gareth Taylor has no fresh injury concerns to deal with.

The Manchester derby between Manchester United and Manchester City is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm on Saturday and will be screened live on BT Sport 1. The game will also be shown on free-to-air via the BT Sport App, the BT Sport website and through their website.
