Arsenal will be hoping to return to the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table with victory over Chelsea at Meadow Park this afternoon.

The Gunners were knocked off top spot last weekend as they fell to a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at the Leigh Sports Village but they will be keen to quickly reclaim their place at the summit.

Arsenal head coach Joe Montemurro will again be without several members of his squad for this afternoon’s clash with Chelsea. Defensive trio Jen Beattie, Steph Catley and Noelle Maritz remain sidelined, as does Jordan Nobbs and Lisa Evans. Montemurro’s options are limited when it comes to changing things following last weekend’s defeat, although Jill Roord, Kim Little and Leonie Maier could be considered for recalls to the starting XI.

Chelsea make the short trip to Meadow Park without long-term absentees Drew Spence and Hannah Blundell. Forward Fran Kirby is edging closer to fitness following an ankle injury but this afternoon’s fixture will come too soon for her.

Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League clash with Chelsea at Meadow Park is the final top flight fixture of Women’s Football Weekend ’20. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 2.30pm and will be screened live on BT Sport 1.
