Birmingham City’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup fixture against Leicester City which was due to take place at the SportNation.bet Stadium on Wednesday evening has been postponed according to reports on the Blues’ official website.

Carla Ward’s side were set to face Barclays FA Women’s Super League hopefuls Leicester City in a winner takes all clash in Solihull but the game has been postponed due to a positive COVID-19 test in the home camp.

It has been reported that several other members of the Birmingham City squad have been instructed to self-isolate after coming into contact with the individual.

Following a discussion with officials at The Football Association, the decision has been made to postpone Wednesday’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup fixture against Leicester City in the best interests of health and safety. The Blues are not set to return to action until Sunday 6 December when they travel to Arsenal therefore no other fixtures are expected to be postponed at this stage.

A new date for the Leicester City fixture is set to be announced in due course with a midweek date in December likely to be a real possibility.

A depleted Birmingham City side won 1-0 at Aston Villa in their latest match on Saturday in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, the club’s third away victory of the season in the league.
