A second Manchester derby within the space of just six days takes place this evening with Manchester United hosting Manchester City in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.

The two sides played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in Leigh on Saturday in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League instalment, United coming back from two goals down to rescue a point in that game.

Despite losing their opening FA Women’s Continental League Cup group match 3-1 at Liverpool last month, Manchester United still have realistic hopes of reaching the quarter-finals. With The Red Devils needing maximum points from their remaining two group games, manager Casey Stoney is expected to name a strong XI to take on City tonight.

Stoney must decide whether to play Mary Earps or Emily Ramsey in goal while she could consider recalls for Lucy Staniforth, Katie Zelem, Lauren James, Kirsty Hanson and Jane Ross.

Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor has no new injury concerns to contend with as his side look to secure their status as group winners.

Aoife Mannion and Lauren Hemp remain sidelined but Megan Campbell could be in-line to return to the side following a 10-month absence. Boss Taylor could consider making some changes to his side with the likes of Karen Bardsley, Gemma Bonner, Esme Morgan, Janine Beckie, Caroline Weir, Jill Scott, Jess Park and Rose Lavelle possibly in-line for selection.

Manchester United’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup fixture against Manchester City kicks-off at 7pm this evening and will be available to watch live on MUTV and City+.
