Chelsea forward and Everton pair make Danish Player of the Year shortlist

Chelsea forward Pernille Harder and Everton pair Rikke Sevecke and Nicoline Sorensen make up the three-player shortlist for the Danish Women’s Player of the Year 2020.

Striker Harder is aiming to win the accolade for the sixth consecutive year while Everton duo Sevecke and Sorensen are hoping to be crowned their nation’s Player of the Year for the very first time.

The Danish Football Association, the DBU, revealed their final shortlist earlier today on their official Twitter account. No date has been stated for the announcement of the overall winner.

Chelsea ace Harder is the favourite to land the award with the player having starred for both club and country. Her performances have also seen her nominated for The Best FIFA Women’s Player award at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2020.

The striker netted 38 goals in all competitions for former club VfL Wolfsburg last season, helping the She-Wolves to a domestic league and club double, while she captained the team to the 2019/2020 UEFA Women’s Champions League final. Harder has netted two goals in six Barclays FA Women’s Super League games for new club Chelsea so far this season.

On the international stage, Harder has found the back of the net for Denmark on five occasions in the current calendar year while she is now just two goals short of being the all-time record goalscorer for her country.

All three nominees have impressed early in their Barclays FA Women’s Super League careers and are proving that they are the very best talents that Denmark has to offer.
