WEEKLY UPDATE: Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club #68

Welcome to the latest update from the Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club.

Due to the international break, we have had no games to cheer the team on during the last couple of weeks. The last matches were the two derby draws against United and now we set ourselves for the handful of games before the Christmas break.

Amongst those games, we will begin our UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign against Goteborg which is really exciting. Of course with a trip to Sweden not an option for our members, it is another reminder of the difficult times that we have all had to endure throughout this year.

The news last week that some teams can begin to allow limited fans to return to games is one that we welcome. Unfortunately, with our area still being classed as Tier 3, we are unable to attend games at The Academy Stadium. We wish all those that do get to return this weekend well and hope that they enjoy the experience. It is certainty a welcome step in right direction.

We have been really busy during this last week or so arranging somewhat different Christmas celebrations to those that we would usually undertake. Again, 2020 has put paid to the hosting of our Annual Xmas Bash so this year we are going online for a virtual get together. We are hosting a Zoom meeting for our members to wish them a Merry Christmas and to thank them for supporting us throughout a difficult year. The main focus of the evening is bound to be our festive member raffle. We have gathered together lots of fantastic prizes to give away including signed shirts, player issued kit, exclusive art prints, signed photos and much more. We are all looking forward to a great evening.

The other big news came last Sunday as the OSC celebrated our fifth anniversary. Again, no doubt under normal circumstances, we would have celebrated with a special meeting, however, we were forced to go virtual. The well wishes and congratulatory messages across our social media were unbelievable. They came from so many of our members, friends and followers. I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone on behalf of all the committee for those messages, we really appreciate every single one.

One very special message that we received was a video message from Aoife Mannion on behalf of the City squad. It is things like this that really highlights why we love our club so much.

Our social media channels continue to provide matchday features and news on OSC giveaways and merchandise announcements. Please feel free to get in touch at any time.

Our best wishes go to all fans returning to games this week. Stay safe and hopefully we can all be back in the near future.
