Derby County have announced via their official website that former Sheffield United captain Ellie Gilliatt has re-joined the club.

The defender returns to The Ewe Rams following a short spell with FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands club Lincoln City.

Gilliatt previously spent last season with Derby County after her one-year stay with FA Women’s Championship club Sheffield United came to an end. The defender captained The Blades in their first season as a second tier club. She made 19 appearances for the South Yorkshire side in the FA Women’s Championship, scoring two goals which came in victories over Leicester City and Millwall Lionesses.

Prior to her spell with The Blades, Gilliatt spent a number of years with former second tier club Sheffield FC. Upon leaving The Coach and Horses Ground, it was thought that the player received offers from several FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship clubs for her services but she eventually opted to join Sheffield United.

Gilliatt could make her second debut for new club Derby County when they return to FA Women’s National League North Premier Division action on Sunday 13 December. Sam Griffiths’ side will be looking to record their sixth victory in seven matches in the North East.
