Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has finished as a runner-up to Dutch national team head coach Sarina Wiegman for The Best FIFA Women’s Coach Award 2020.

The 44-year-old made the final three for the prestigious award but was beaten to the accolade by Wiegman who helped The Netherlands to UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 qualification during the last 12 months.

Wiegman wins the award for the second time, three years on from winning her first honour. She was the runner-up for The Best FIFA Women’s Coach Award in 2019 after being beaten to the title by FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019-winning coach Jill Ellis.

Chelsea boss Hayes guided her side to a first FA Women’s Continental League Cup victory earlier this year while The Blues also won back the Barclays FA Women’s Super League title on a points-per-game basis following the early curtailment of the 2019/2020 campaign. The South West Londoners started 2020/2021 with a 2-0 FA Women’s Community Shield victory over Manchester City at Wembley while they have also enjoyed successful starts to both their Barclays FA Women’s Super League title defence and their latest UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign.

Hayes was crowned the 2019/2020 Barclays FA Women’s Super League Manager of the Season following her side’s latest title success.
