Former West Ham United defender Brooke Hendrix has joined National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion team Racing Louisville according to reports on the American club’s official website.

The 27-year-old centre-back was one of six players recently waived by Washington Spirit and Hendrix has quickly found herself a new club in the form of 2021 NWSL debutants Racing Louisville.

Hendrix joins a club who were only formed in October 2019 and becomes the latest player of a squad which is continually being assembled ahead of Racing Louisville’s first competitive season. The defender will represent her third American club in a senior playing career which is now in a fifth year.

As well as her time playing in her homeland, Hendrix has also played her senior football in Scotland, Iceland, Italy and England. Fans of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League are most-familiar with the defender from her 18-month spell with West Ham United. Hendrix was a member of The Hammers’ first top tier playing squad and helped the club reach the 2018/2019 Women’s FA Cup final. Hendrix made 35 appearances for West Ham United in all competitions before opting to return to the United States where she joined Washington Spirit.

With the player’s time at Washington Spirit having been severely disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Hendrix will be hoping for some better fortune with latest club Racing Louisville.
