Former Arsenal defender Cori Daniels has been appointed First Team Assistant Coach at FA Women’s Championship club London City Lionesses.
The 34-year-old will assist First Team Head Coach Melissa Phillips during her time at Princes Park with the London City Lionesses announcing Daniels’ arrival via an official club press release this morning.
After her talents were discovered by the Charlton Athletic Community Trust during her early years, Daniels went on to represent The Addicks at senior level along with Watford and former FA Women’s Super League champions Arsenal. The Kent-born defender went on to experience domestic glory whilst with The Gunners and was part of a squad which competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Since hanging up her boots, Daniels has coached with Gillingham and Margate prior to working with the Kent Girls Elite Academy.
After being appointed London City Lionesses’ First Team Assistant Coach, UEFA B licence holder Daniels said “I am delighted to join the club at what is a really exciting time.
“I have observed what London City Lionesses have been achieving on and off the pitch since their inception and I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to join.
“I’m looking forward to working with Melissa and the playing squad to make a positive contribution and continue to develop as a football coach.”
Daniels immediately begins work at Princes Park ahead of London City Lionesses’ return to action against Crystal Palace this weekend. Sophie Bone has also joined the club as a First Team Performance Analyst.
