West Ham United have completed the permanent signing of Australian international midfielder Emily van Egmond according to reports on The Hammers’ official website.

The 27-year-old initially joined the East Londoners on loan from National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Orlando Pride at the end of August and after impressing in a short space of time at The Chigwell Construction Stadium, West Ham United have moved swiftly to make the deal permanent.

Van Egmond becomes new West Ham United boss Olli Harder’s first signing of the January transfer window. The midfielder is unlikely to be the only player signing a deal with The Hammers this month with manager Harder set to put his own stamp on the squad following his arrival in England in December.

During her time on loan with West Ham United, Van Egmond made 12 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring five goals.

Despite her relatively young age, Van Egmond has represented no less than 12 different clubs in her career to date. She has played football in Australia, the United States, Denmark and Germany before moving to England in the summer.

Van Egmond will hope to be in action in a claret and blue shirt for the first time in 2021 when Harder’s side face Durham at The Chigwell Construction Stadium on Wednesday evening in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup quarter-finals.
