Liverpool’s FA Women’s Championship fixture against London Bees has become the fifth casualty of the weekend.

The Reds were set to face Lee Burch’s Bees at Prenton Park on Sunday, however, the match is now understood to have been postponed due to a COVID-19 incident in the home camp.

Visiting club London Bees announced the news via their official club website this afternoon. It is understood that Liverpool players have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been made to self-isolate. The match has been postponed following consultation with the authorities with a date for the rearranged fixture to be agreed between the two clubs in due course.

Liverpool are currently scheduled to host Leicester City in their next FA Women’s Championship fixture on Sunday 17 January, however, at this stage it is not known whether that game will also be postponed. London Bees have a home derby against London City Lionesses in their next fixture on the same date.

Three Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixtures and two FA Women’s Championship fixtures have now been postponed this weekend. In the top flight, Manchester City’s home fixture against West Ham United, Arsenal’s trip to Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur’s meeting with Birmingham City are off while Charlton Athletic’s fixture against Blackburn Rovers was the first FA Women’s Championship casualty prior to the Liverpool postponement.
