Brighton & Hove Albion manager Hope Powell has opted to recall defender Bethan Roe from her loan spell at FA Women’s Championship club Charlton Athletic.
The 21-year-old former England youth International full-back was midway through a season-long loan spell with The Addicks but she has been recalled by her parent club with injuries mounting up and a number of players having been forced to self-isolate in midweek.
Albion boss Powell told FA Women’s Super League Full-Time on Friday that a number of her players had been kept in self-isolation this week as a precautionary measure with potential COVID-19 symptoms having been reported. Powell was unable to confirm whether Sunday’s game at Birmingham City will definitely go ahead with the club awaiting test results at the time of their pre-match press conference. It is likely that on-loan Charlton Athletic defender Roe is needed back at The People’s Pension Stadium to make up the numbers this weekend in a bid for Albion’s game to go ahead as planned.
Charlton Athletic confirmed that full-back Roe has been recalled by The Seagulls in a report on their official club website this morning.
Roe has been an ever-present for The Addicks this season. She has made 10 appearances for the club in all competitions.
