United States head coach Vlatko Andonovski has confirmed that Manchester City midfielder Rose Lavelle is fit and will play some minutes in the nation’s upcoming fixtures against Colombia.

The 25-year-old FIFA Women’s World Cup winner picked up a knee injury whilst playing for City against Everton early last month but has linked up with The Stars and Stripes for this month’s camp.

The United States play two matches against Colombia this week and head coach Andonovski has this evening told FA Women’s Super League Full-Time that Lavelle has overcome her knee injury and is it fit to play.

“Rose has been training well with some careful management in a couple of the training sessions” said Andonovski. “Her fitness was never a problem, it was just a little knock that she had and we have had to be careful there.

“Right now, it seems like everything is behind her. We are still going to be cautious but I am very confident that she will get minutes in both games.”

The United States face Colombia in their first match at the Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida at midnight on Tuesday. They will then play the South American nation in a second game at the same venue exactly five days later.

Lavelle is one of three Manchester City players to feature in the United States squad. Fellow midfielder Sam Mewis has also been included in the group, three weeks on from being crowned 2020 US Soccer Female Player of the Year, while City’s latest signing Abby Dahlkemper is the third English-based player named the 27-player squad.
