Lewes have completed the signing of former Brighton & Hove Albion striker Ini Umotong according to reports on The Rookettes’ official website.

The 26-year-old Nigerian international forward moves to The Dripping Pan following a short spell playing her football in Sweden with Vaxjo DFF.

Lewes boss Simon Parker’s latest addition is a really impressive one with Umotong having played in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League with former club Brighton & Hove Albion. The player made 34 top flight appearances for The Seagulls in which she scored three goals. Umotong can be described as a typical number nine with her physical presence being a real problem for opposition defenders.

Umotong started out in England with Portsmouth before moving to former second tier club Oxford United. The striker moved on to Brighton & Hove Albion in 2017 and she was instrumental in helping the club transition into a full-time top flight side.

After three years with Albion, Umotong left the club last summer and joined Swedish Damallsvenskan side Vaxjo DFF where she netted two goals in 13 appearances. The player has now opted for a return to England, joining Lewes as the club continue to build towards mounting a push for promotion in the FA Women’s Championship in the coming seasons.

Umotong could make her debut for latest club Lewes against Sheffield United at The Dripping Pan on Sunday.
