Everton defender loaned to Blackburn Rovers until the end of the season

Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of defender Hannah Coan from Everton on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old centre-back is yet to appear for The Blue Girls in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and will be keen to get some first team experience under her belt during her time at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium.

Rovers confirmed the loan arrangement for Coan via their official club website this morning with the player being handed the number 29 shirt. The youngster could make her debut for Gemma Donnelly’s side in their latest FA Women’s Championship fixture against London City Lionesses at Princes Park this afternoon.

Coan has made just the one senior appearance for parent club Everton to date which came in an FA Women’s Continental League Cup tie against Leicester City in 2019. The centre-back spent the early stages of this season on-loan at Blackburn Rovers’ FA Women’s Championship rivals Sheffield United where she made two appearances, totalling 25 minutes of football.

The youngster joins a Rovers side who are well-known for their defensive stability this season. Donnelly’s side have kept five clean sheets in just 11 FA Women’s Championship matches. She will provide competition for a place at the heart of the Rovers defence as the club look to continue their impressive campaign so far.
