Chelsea academy graduate Lexi Lloyd-Smith has joined FA Women’s Championship club Charlton Athletic according to reports on The Addicks’ official website.

The 17-year-old attacker becomes Charlton Athletic boss Riteesh Mishra’s fifth signing of what has been a very busy transfer window for the club.

Lloyd-Smith was on Arsenal’s books earlier in her youth career before making the switch across London to Chelsea. The player has not made her senior debut for The Blues but was named on the bench for the first time last season as Chelsea won 2-1 at second tier club Lewes in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup. The attacker has largely been a member of Chelsea’s WSL Academy League side but will now make the step up to senior football with Charlton Athletic.

The signing of Lloyd-Smith is Charlton Athletic manager Mishra’s second addition of the day with Arsenal forward Katie Godden having also joined the club this morning. Tottenham Hotspur’s Elisha Sulola, West Ham United’s Angie Dunbar-Bonnie and former Wales international forward Emma Plewa have also moved to The Oakwood in the last 48 hours.

Charlton Athletic return to action for the first time in 2021 this evening when they take on London City Lionesses at The Oakwood. All of the club’s new signings could be in contention for places in manager Mishra’s matchday squad.
