Aston Villa’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Arsenal at The Banks’s Stadium has been postponed as a result of a waterlogged pitch.

The pair were set to meet in Walsall this afternoon but recent heavy rainfall as left the playing surface at The Banks’s Stadium unplayable.

The game was in some doubt yesterday with Walsall’s Sky Bet League Two fixture against Mansfield Town at the same venue having also fallen foul of the weather.

FA Women’s Super League Full-Time were made aware of the postponement via an official press release from Aston Villa this morning. It is the second time this month that Aston Villa’s meeting with Arsenal has been postponed. The pair were originally due to meet in early January, however, that fixture was called off due to a positive COVID-19 test in the visitors’ camp in the lead up to the match.

Both clubs are next due to be in Barclays FA Women’s Super League action next weekend with Aston Villa hosting Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday and Arsenal facing Manchester City at Meadow Park next Sunday.

A new date for Aston Villa’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Arsenal will be agreed between the two clubs in due course.
