Manchester City goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

The 21-year-old Sheffield-born stopper has established herself as City’s number one while the youngster is now also regarded as one of the best goalkeepers which the English national team has to offer.

Manchester City have today announced that Roebuck has dedicated her future to the club for the next three years. The keeper  has penned a deal which will keep her at The Academy Stadium until the end of the 2023/2024 campaign.

Roebuck made her senior Manchester City debut against Birmingham City back in 2016. The player initially provided reliable cover for veteran goalkeeper Karen Bardsley but Roebuck has now made the goalkeeping position her own. She played in all of City’s 16 Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixtures last term while she has missed just one league fixture so far this season.

On the international stage, Roebuck made her senior debut for England in November 2018. She has since gone on to collect five caps for the Lionesses. She most recently kept a clean sheet in England’s 1-0 victory over Japan in the SheBelieves Cup last March.

Roebuck’s performances for club and country were recognised The Best FIFA Football Awards 2020 with the player having been nominated for The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper award.
