Brighton & Hove Albion full-back Emma Koivisto was on target for Finland as they defeated Cyprus 5-0 this evening in their final UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 qualifying match at the AEK Arena.
The defender netted the first goal of the evening for Anna Signeul’s side while there was also a goal for second half substitute Juliette Kemppi who also plays her football in England with FA Women’s Championship club London City Lionesses.
Koivisto broke the deadlock after just four minutes in Larnaca before forward Linda Sallstrom added a second goal just two minutes later.
Former Chelsea midfielder Adelina Engman then added a third Finland goal before Kaisa Collin added to the first half goal tally as Signeul’s side took a huge 4-0 lead into the break.
The goals dried up in the second half but Finland were to find the back of the net once more when London City Lionesses forward Kemppi struck two minutes into second half stoppage time.
Finland were already assured of their place at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 tournament finals ahead of this evening’s match after beating Portugal 1-0 last week. They will now await the completion of the six play-off matches before learning of their opponents in England next summer once the finals draw is made.
