Christen Press was again on the scoresheet for the United States as they defeated Argentina 6-0 to win the 2021 SheBelieves Cup.
The Stars and Stripes needed just a point from their final tournament game to secure the trophy and they ended up winning their match against Argentina in style.
Manchester City midfielder Rose Lavelle set up Megan Rapinoe for the game’s opening goal after 16 minutes before the same player was on target again 10 minutes later.
Veteran forward Carli Lloyd then made it 3-0 from close range before Kristie Mewis struck a fourth goal just before the interval.
The United States added to their goal tally in the second half with further strikes from Alex Morgan and Manchester United forward Press in the final minutes of the game as they retained the SheBelieves Cup for another year.
Press ended the tournament with two goals while Manchester City midfielder Rose Lavelle was handed the MVP award after the game, acknowledging her performances as the best from any player competing at the tournament.
The United States beat Brazil to the 2021 SheBelieves Cup while Bev Priestman’s Canada side finished the tournament in third place. Minnows Argentina lost all three of their matches but will have learnt plenty from their experiences.
