Arsenal trio Noelle Maritz, Malin Gut and Lia Walti have been named in the Switzerland squad for the nation’s upcoming UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 play-off matches against the Czech Republic.
Head coach Nils Nielsen has selected 25 players in his squad with on-loan Everton forward Alisha Lehmann having also secured her place.
Switzerland travel to Chomutov for the first leg on 9 April before hosting the Czech Republic in the second leg in Thun on 13 April.
After appearing in their first UEFA Women’s EURO tournament finals in The Netherlands in 2017, Switzerland are now aiming to reach their second consecutive finals by beating a nation who have never qualified.
Arsenal midfielder Walti will edge closer to her 100th senior international cap should she feature against the Czech Republic. The player, who is the Swiss captain, is now just 16 appearances short of the century. Club teammate Maritz is also clocking up the minutes for her country and she is just four senior outings behind Walti.
Switzerland were last in action during the February international window when they took on France in back-to-back friendly matches. The English-based players were permitted to initially link-up with the Swiss squad for a training camp but returned to club early due to COVID-19 travel restrictions in France.
