London City Lionesses forward Atlanta Primus is hoping to get the opportunity to play against Sam Kerr when The Pride travel to Kingsmeadow to take on Chelsea in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round on Friday evening.

The 23-year-old Londoner will come up against her former employers with Primus having spent her youth with The Blues, making her senior debut for the club in 2014.

Speaking to FAWSL Full-Time ahead of the match, Primus says that she is excited to go back and face her former club this weekend.

“To be in and around that environment at a young age, it really did help develop me as a player,” Primus said. “Just to be around some of the top players in the world at the time, it was definitely instrumental to the player that I am today.

“I am obviously excited to be going back on Friday and to be competing against them.”

London City Lionesses are taking on the current English champions, the current FA Women’s Continental League Cup holders and UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finalists in their Vitality Women’s FA Cup tie and Primus says that the signs of Chelsea’s dominance were clear to see during her time in South West London.

“The way that the club was set up and their aspirations, the players that they were bringing in, you could tell that they were setting up to become dominant and to be one of the most successful clubs in England and in Europe,” she said.

“I think we are seeing that now and I think that they were building those foundations back then.”

Primus will come up against some of her former teammates at Kingsmeadow while she has no doubt about the player which she would most like to test herself against on Friday evening.

“I’ve played with a few of them, the likes of Millie Bright, Hannah Blundell and Drew Spence,” Primus said. “I am excited to see and play against Sam Kerr. She is definitely a player that I have been watching over the last few years.

“To be on the same pitch as them and to compete against them is exciting. We want to be as competitive as we can and make it difficult.”

London City Lionesses’ Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Chelsea at Kingsmeadow kicks-off at 7pm on Friday evening. The match will be available for fans to stream live on Chelsea’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
