Ellie Leek has become the fourth midfield player to leave FA Women’s Championship club Lewes during the close season.
The 26-year-old joins fellow midfielders Danielle Lane, Filippa Savva and Simran Jhamat in leaving The Rookettes this summer while forward Emma Jones has also departed.
Lewes announced Leek’s departure via a post on their official club Twitter account earlier today. The player leaves The Dripping Pan after spending almost a year-and-a-half with the Sussex club.
We can announce that Ellie Leek is departing Lewes FC.
Ellie joined the Club in the 2019/20 season and has been a key member of the squad. Leek’s goal against London City Lionesses secured three points this season.

Leek joined Lewes in early 2020 following a short spell with the club’s FA Women’s Championship rivals Charlton Athletic. The midfielder had little time to bed in at her new club before the Coronavirus pandemic hit and wiped out the end of the 2019/2020 season.
This season, Leek has gone on to make 16 appearances for Lewes in the FA Women’s Championship. She scored the decisive goal as Simon Parker’s side won 1-0 at London City Lionesses back in October. The player has played her part in helping her side to record a best-ever finish of fifth place in the FA Women’s Championship.
With five players having now left Lewes, manager Parker will have some work to do to bring new faces into the club. The midfield area is certainly one aspect of his team which he will surely look to strengthen.
