Bristol City forward Abi Harrison will remain with the club in the FA Women’s Championship next season according to reports on The Robins’ official website.

The 23-year-old Glasgow-born attacker was set to become a free agent this summer, however, Bristol City have taken up an option in her contract to extend the terms by a further year.

Harrison becomes the first player to see her contract at Bristol City extended since the club were relegated 11 days’ ago.

The forward has returned to action with Bristol City this season after missing a large chunk of the 2019/2020 campaign with a knee ligament injury which she sustained in The Robins’ 3-3 draw with Reading at The Madejski Stadium in November 2019. Harrison has scored two goals in 20 Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances. The player started just eight of those games but she could play a much more significant role for the club next season as they look to win promotion back to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League at the first attempt.

Harrison started her career north of the border with Celtic before enjoying a hugely successful spell with Hibernian. The forward moved to current club Bristol City in 2019 and she has scored three goals in 34 top flight appearances
