England international forward White signs new Manchester City deal

Manchester City forward Ellen White has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

The 32-year-old Aylesbury-born striker has impressed since moving to The Academy Stadium in summer 2019, scoring 24 goals in 55 games in all competitions.

Manchester City informed FAWSL Full-Time of White’s new two-year deal via an official club press release.

White started her career with Chelsea in 2005 before the player spent time with Leeds Carnegie. A three-year spell with Arsenal followed, the club where White had previously spent her youth. The forward then spend two years with both Notts County and Birmingham City before the player joined current club Manchester City on a free transfer two years’ ago.

During her time as a Manchester City player, White has helped the club win back-to-back Vitality Women’s FA Cups while she has made a significant contribution for her side in the other competitions both domestically and in Europe.

After signing her new deal, White told Manchester City’s official media sources “I’m delighted to have everything sorted. I’ve really enjoyed the last two seasons and I’m excited for what the future holds for this team and to be a part of it.

“We’ve got some really talented players here and I’ve really enjoyed working with Gareth, so I can’t wait to continue that journey for the next couple of years – it was a really easy decision for me.

“I still want to develop too as a player – I’m 32, but I still want to learn and get better. I’m surrounded by a great group of players who constantly push each other to improve in a competitive environment.

“We’ve already won the FA Cup, but we don’t want to sit back – I really want to help the team to achieve some big things in the coming years and that’s a big part of the reason that I’ve committed my future to this club.”

White follows teammate Laura Coombs in committing her future to Manchester City.
