Former Reading full-back Kristine Bjordal Leine has joined Norwegian club Rosenborg BK Kvinner on a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old defender spent the last two years with Reading prior to her release by The Royals this summer. The Berkshire club wanted to retain her services but she has instead returned home to be closer to her family.

Norwegian club Rosenborg announced Leine’s signature via their official club website yesterday. The player has joined ‘The Troll Children’ on a two year deal which will cover the 2021 and 2022 Toppserien seasons. Leine joins former Reading teammate Lisa-Marie Karlseng Utland at the Koteng Arena.

During her time at Reading, Leine represented The Royals on 29 occasions in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. She netted her only league goal as Kelly Chambers’ side produced a spirited fightback to win 3-2 at West Ham United in her first season with the club.

Prior to her two-year spell in England with Reading, Leine spent all of her career playing in her homeland. She started her senior career with Fortuna Ålesund where she spent four years before moving to Roa where she enjoyed a similar spell. The player will now return to the Norwegian top flight with latest club Rosenborg.
