Bristol City will spend the 2021/2022 campaign without manager Tanya Oxtoby in the dugout with the club having today announced their intention to appoint an interim head coach.

The Robins were relegated from the Barclays FA Women’s Super League earlier this month after going down 3-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion on the final day of the season and will now compete in the FA Women’s Championship as a result.

Manager Oxtoby took maternity leave at the end of January with Matt Beard filling in on an interim basis. Beard left the club following their failed survival bid and he has since been appointed the new manager of Liverpool.

With Bristol City set to rebuild for a promotion push in the FA Women’s Championship, the club have today released a job advert for an interim head coach to take charge on a 12-month basis as maternity cover. The Robins are seeking a UEFA ‘A’ Licence coach with a detailed understanding of the FA Women’s Championship and a strong track record of working with elite players and developing young players.

Applicants have eight days to apply for the role with an appointment likely to be made next month. Former FA Women’s Championship promotion-winner Gemma Davies is the fans’ favourite for the role. Davies is one of the brightest young coaches in the game and is currently out of work after recently leaving Aston Villa.
